About Me. Photo 2

My experience

I have worked for the NHS in Sexual Health for 22 years and at present work for two local trusts as a psychosexual therapist.
I have a successful private practice at Mind Garden Therapy. I believe in helping clients find and develop their own solutions using an integrative approach.
I am an senior accredited member of COSRT. I am bound by their Codes of Ethics and Principles of Good Practice.
I hold full professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

How I work

I help individuals and couples find and develop their own solutions. I use an integrative approach to sex therapy and sex addiction therapy.
Some of my psychotherapeutic orientations are:
  • Psychodynamic Therapy
  • Systemic Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

I use Sensate Focus for couples in Psychosexual Therapy (PST). This is a programme designed to help you become intimate again and rediscover each other’s bodies. Development of shared views by me and each individual’s problems will lead to identification of therapy goals. These are continually monitored and evaluated. There is a commitment to this therapy as you will need to carry out ‘homework’ and then discuss at the next session. PST can take up to twelve sessions as it’s important to take small steps at a time.

I am a fully qualified sex addiction therapist. I use a specialist treatment to help people and their partners to overcome this problem.

My initial assessment lasts for 50 minutes, after which we can make arrangements for follow-up sessions of 50 minutes each. I usually see individuals and couples weekly or fortnightly, depending on your individual needs.

    Confidentiality:
    Everything we discuss is confidential.
Clinical supervision is mandatory as part of ethical practice. There may be times when I might need to discuss cases specifically with my supervisor to seek advice in order to suggest the best way forward.
I am registered with the Information Commissioner. This means that I am bound by the Data Protection Act 1998. For more information, please visit ICO

My philosophy on counselling and psychotherapy

I believe that communication is a fundamental part of any couple relationship and that a healthy sex life is important to maintain a sound relationship.
Difficulties in a sexual relationship can occur at any time in our lives and at any age. It is therefore important to identify the problem and seek help.
Counselling can improve the quality of the couple relationship, sexual response and satisfaction.
